Discovery Academy is a specialist academy for pupils aged 9-19 who have diagnoses of ASC and/or SEMH.
Through successful tender with YPO, we supported Discovery Academy with the design and implementation of over 150 cameras at two sites. We were delighted to work with Hikvision to fulfil Discovery’s request in ensuring a safe environment for all staff, visitors, and pupils. The CCTV system also gives parents a peace of mind that their children are unharmed and secure.
We achieved their timeline for the project by completing both sites over the Summer Holidays 2023. Through their 65 Channel NVR, Discovery and Quest Academies can monitor the whole school through a central screen. They can easily use some of the NVR features such as live event alert, number plate recognition and more. In the event of an incident taking place, the recording back dating 30 days can provide valuable evidence for investigations and safeguards vulnerable children.
Working with Hikvision, all our cameras were selected to ensure that it was fit for purpose for the environment. For example, we used weatherproof 6MP IP Turret cameras outside, this was because the camera can provide HD images in ultra-low light scenarios. with a maximum range of 30m, featuring a 1/2.8″ progressive scan CMOS sensor. The turret’s flat faced front panel addresses the issue of IR reflection, spiders and rain drops ensuring crisp quality image any time of the day. In addition, its wide dynamic range and SD digital noise reduction technology to further enhance image quality.
Overall, the system enables the academy to monitor the premises in real time allowing them to quickly respond to any incidents/suspicious activities and helps make the school a safer place!
